IIM Jammu, AIIMS Jammu & IIT Delhi Explore Research Opportunities in Biotechnology

New Delhi: In honour of this Start-up day on January 16, 2023, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu and AIIMS Jammu jointly investigated the opportunities to conduct research and support innovative products/processes in the field of biotechnology in Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier, IIM Jammu and IIT Delhi jointly organised a seminar on Biotechnology Ignition Grant (BIG)by BIRAC. (Mailer Attached for reference) at IIM Jammu, Canal Road campus. The session was attended by Doctors from AIIMS Jammu as well as students and teachers from IIM Jammu.

This initiative was carried out by IIM Jammu Foundation for Entrepreneurship, Innovation, & Skill Development, the institution's business incubator under the Direction of Professor B. S. Sahay, Director of IIM Jammu.

For the benefit of all the institute's doctors, a canvassing regarding the grant was conducted at AIIMS Jammu prior to the main session. The session was organised by Dr Pranay Mahajan, Hospital Administrator, AIIMS Jammu and chaired by Lt. Gen. Sunil Kant, SM VSM (Retd.), Medical Superintendent and Dean (Research), AIIMS Jammu.

Dr. Saket Chattopadhyay from FITT, the industry interaction unit of IIT Delhi, spoke first during the event. He discussed the entrepreneurial process, prior successful examples, and BIRAC's BIG grant application procedure.

In addition to this, Mr. Arjun Gupta, Director of Genetico, the recipient of the BIG award BIG grant (2019 chapter), attended the second session. His research focused on the analysis of data related to hereditary illnesses.

Dr. Prateek Jain, chair of the CEI at IIM Jammu, gave the session's opening remarks. The discussion focused on several research concepts and the viability of advancing them to the grant level with the help of the IIM Jammu students and incubator.

The speakers underlined the value of pursuing meaningful synergies to advance the research projects to their completion. Through a VC webcast, the IIM Jammu Executive MBA students were present for the session. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Vivek Sharma, Chief Innovation Officer at IIM Jammu.
