New Delhi: Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director of Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Kozhikode has announced that the institute is all set to establish a campus in Dubai. The announcement was made during the institute’s ‘masterclass’ held in Dubai (UAE).
Recently, the IIM Kozhikode organised its first-ever "masterclass." in Dubai, where almost 100 corporate leaders from the GCC countries participated in this special training, including CEOs, CXOs, educational leaders, and health care professionals.
During the event in Dubai, Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, the institute's two-time Director said that the institute is currently planning to spread the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) brand throughout the world.
He informed that the management school is currently in discussions with a number of UAE stakeholders to internationalise the management brand as India's reputation on the international stage grows.
As Dubai is a destination for corporate innovations and experimentation, the IIM Kozhikode faculty will likewise be exposed to the global stage if a management school is embedded in that place. As a result, the institute is planning to set up a campus in Dubai.
In his speech, he further added that there are several reasons for establishing an IIMK campus abroad, one of which is that Dubai is a multicultural city and it is acknowledged that diversity is the primary pillar of innovation.
In order to integrate the institute's objective of "Globalizing Indian Thought" with the government of India's "Study in India" programme, it has also recently added 50 supernumerary seats for outstanding international students.
Prof Debashis said, “Currently, there are mid-career bureaucrats and diplomats of 30 different countries under the Ministry of External Affairs undergoing training in Kozhikode to look at how India creates innovation and social capital”
“This is gaining momentum as India increasingly becomes an aspirational space for many countries. They look to us to guide them as to how to take their country forward” he further added.
