In accordance with the guidelines issued by the Karnataka Government, IISc Bangalore has decided to open the August-December Semester from October 2020 onwards.
Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, has decided to run the August 2020 Semester online as of October 01, 2020. The Institute announced on its official portal that it would notify students of the August-December 2020 semester.
The renowned institute offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in science-related subjects. The same orientation programme will begin in the last week of September 2020.
The decision was taken as a result of the ongoing pandemic and health-related concerns in the state of Karnataka. The announcement came after the Karnataka government instructed universities to take classes online from September 2020.

The Government also stated that the offline classes may start in October 2020 if the situation of COVID-19 remains under control. Colleges and institutes have been asked to make arrangements accordingly.
The announcement made on the official portal stated that the registration process will begin on September 25, 2020. Classes for different courses shall begin on October 01, 2020. Students can drop out of the course without mentioning it until December 15, 2020.
After this date, students will be able to leave their course until 5 January 2020 only after they have provided the correct rationale. Students must bear in mind that the final semester examinations will take place from January 20 to 29, 2021. Interested candidates may request further guidance and guidance from the official website.
Detailed information on the courses available for registration will be posted on the websites of the respective departments. This will also include other important information, such as fee structure, course pattern, etc.

Registration or cancellation of courses will also take place through the Institute's new Student Life Cycle Management (SCLM) system. Instructions on the same will be provided on September 25, 2020.
The assessment of the entire semester, including assignments and the final semester, will be strictly carried out in the online mode.
IISc Bangalore may conduct the January-April Semester via offline mode only if the COVID situation remains under control. Otherwise, this semester may also be run through online mode. The proper dates for the January-April semester have not yet been decided.
The provisional timetable for the same, however, is also mentioned in the document. The semester will begin on March 01, 2021. The semester, including the semester examinations, shall end on June 30, 2021.
In August, Karnataka recorded a high number of cases due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As the central government announced Unlock 4.0 details, the Karnataka government has instructed its universities to start classes online.
While it is uncertain when the pandemic will come to an end, students' academics must not be affected. Students wishing to take courses in IISc, Bangalore are advised to visit the official website on a regular basis to keep up-to-date on important announcements.
