IIT Delhi & IIT Roorkee Organises 55th Inter IIT Sports Meet 2022 for 23 IITs


New Delhi: IIT Delhi and IIT Roorkee are jointly organising the week-long Inter-IIT Sports Meet 2022 for all IITs. The leading IITs from around the country such as IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Roorkee and IIT Goa will participate in the sports competition, which will take place from December 14 to December 22, 2022.

The Inter-IIT Sports Meet 2022 will include 12 sports competitions; IIT Delhi will host the athletics, badminton, basketball, table tennis, lawn tennis, and chess competitions, while IIT-Roorkee will host the cricket, hockey, football, volleyball, squash, and weightlifting competitions.

Informing about the event, IIT Bombay tweets: " Meet the IIT Bombay contingent including 162 students along with sports officers, coaches and staff, who are making the Institute proud at the 55th Inter-IIT Sports Meet. Scheduled from Dec 14-22, 2022 at IIT Delhi and IIT Roorkee, the Sports Meet had a thrilling kickstart".

In a similar manner, IIT Goa posted about the occasion on its Twitter account, which reads, "Inter-IIT sports meet is back after a gap of 3 years!! A 100-strong (94 participants and 6 officials) IIT Goa contingent departed this morning for Delhi/Roorkee. The entire IIT Goa family wishes them the very best of the competition!!"

At the official opening, Gurbachan Singh Randhawa, a former Indian athlete who carried the national flag during the 1964 Tokyo Olympics inaugurated the event on December 14, 2022. All participating institutions held a march-past exercise, and IIT-ISM Dhanbad was recognised as having the best contingent. 

In other news, iHUB DivyaSampark of IIT Roorkee has recently inaugurated its second incubation and innovation facility at IITR's Greater Noida extension to focus on deep-tech and emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), robotics, drones, etc.

Informing about the initiative, iHub Divyasampark, CEO, Manish Anand said, "iHub is soon going to start in a startup accelerator program to support startups that are beyond the seed fund stage. iHub is also providing training to students of nearby colleges in the NCR region in deep technologies".
