IIT Delhi and ILBS Delhi worked together to develop a platform to launch collaborations involving the development of academic, research, product, process and human resources.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has signed an agreement with the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) in Delhi to develop a collaborative platform for academic, research, product, process and development of human resources.

The aim of the 'ILBS-IITD Collaborative Platform' is to assist in the critical identification of problems facing physicians in metabolic and liver diseases, ranging from primary health centres to super-speciality tertiary care hospitals, and to initiate the work for sustainable solutions jointly by engineering and medical teams.
Professor V Ramgopal Rao, Director, IIT Delhi, and Dr. SK Sarin, Director, ILBS, Delhi, have signed the agreement.
Speaking of the agreement, the Director of IIT Delhi said, "The development of specialised human resources in interdisciplinary fields bridging the faculty of engineering and medicine to solve some of the challenges facing the country's health sector will be an important objective of this Collaborative Platform."
"In order to solve some of the outstanding problems in the field of liver and biliary medicine, IIT Delhi researchers will bring their expertise to machine learning and AI technologies," the professor added.
The scope of collaboration will focus on liver diseases and will include the initiation of research between the two institutions' various medical and engineering disciplines, IIT Delhi said in a statement.
The agreement will enable PhD students from both institutions to attend lectures and courses in each other's institutions relevant to their field of research and to "imitate joint PhD supervision" and develop the Technology Business Incubator (TBI).
In a statement, the collaboration will include the use of artificial intelligence in liver and biliary diseases; development of bio-sensors; computational biology and big data; material sciences, membranes and machines for liver dialysis and 3D bioprinting and bio-artificial liver, IIT Delhi said.
