IIT Delhi Inaugurates Second Batch of STEM Mentorship Program on Feb 10 Read Details Here

New Delhi: IIT Delhi has inaugurated the second batch of its STEM Mentorship Program 2023 launched for High School Girls. The event was held on February 10, 2023 during a session organised to celebrate the 8th International Day for Women and Girls in Science.

Prof. Rangan Banerjee, Director of IIT Delhi inaugurated the STEM Mentorship Program's second batch. The event was organised by the Gender Equity and Sensitisation (IGES, Office of Diversity and Inclusion) and Office of Academic Outreach and New Initiatives (ONI).

Informing about the program, the officials informed that the STEM Mentorship Program aims to encourage young school girls to pursue their careers in STEM fields. The second batch of the program includes two phases.

In the first phase, a total of 32 students are selected from KVs, government and private schools in Delhi. They are introduced to diverse topics of STEM through online lectures and top faculty members. The classes will be held in the months of March and April 2023.

In the second phase of the program, participants will have an opportunity to visit IIT Delhi for a week and receive exposure to cutting-edge research conducted in the labs of the institute. 

At the inaugural, Prof. Maya Ramanath, CS and Engineering Department, IIT Delhi, and Dr Sarita Ahlawat, Co-Founder and Managing Director at BotLab Dynamics addressed the participants. After this, students were given a tour of Makerspace, a DIY facility at IIT Delhi.

Earlier, the first batch of STEM Mentorship Program 2023 was launched by the institute's Office of Academic Outreach and New Initiatives in December 2021. The first batch included a total of 10 participants who completed their mentorship program in June 2022.
