IIT Delhi Proposal for New Labs & Research Spaces Approved: CM Kejriwal


New Delhi: IIT Delhi will get a new mini Academic block, and a new engineering block has been approved by the Delhi Government, which will feature numerous necessary laboratories and research spaces, as per CM Arvind Kejriwal

His message adds, "We made a significant step when we agreed to construct a new Mini Academic Block and Engineer Block at IIT Delhi 1,570 new trees will be planted inside the campus, however, 157 will be uprooted and relocated as part of the project."

"This choice will greatly benefit upcoming engineers and scientists. In the additional blocks, the IIT plans to build a number of crucial labs and research areas. Our government will make every effort to provide our pupils with a high-quality education, "Added he.

According to the study, several tree areas prevent building new blocks. As a result, IIT Delhi submitted a proposal to cut down and relocate 157 trees in clearing a construction site. The Delhi government granted the initiative stipulating that IIT plant 1,570 trees on its campus.

The Delhi Government approved the application and observed that out of the 157 trees, IIT would transplant 82 trees while undertaking the removal of 75 trees. The transplant will happen at the designated project location.

According to the Delhi government, the Delhi Preservation of Trees Act of 1994 makes it illegal to harm any tree other than the 157 that have been certified, Which include, among many other species, Neem, Amaltas, Pipal, Pilkhan, Gular, Bargad, and Sheesham. On non-forest grounds, these trees will be planted as 6 to 8-foot-tall saplings.

The IIT will also give the Tree Officer a report for oversight. According to the report, the Delhi Government has further directed the IIT to avoid damaging trees outside the site marked and cleared by the government.
