IIT Delhi, PTC India Financial Services Collaborates to Empower Students In Green Energy

New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and PTC India Financial Services Ltd (PFS) has recently signed a 10-year agreement to establish a "PFS Chair" at the institute. This initiative will give students first-hand exposure to business trends in renewable energy, climate finance, and green energy economics.

The PFS launched this initiative through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) group to promote communication between IIT Delhi teachers, students and the energy industry. According to Pawan Singh, Managing Director and CEO of PFS, the chair is being established at the ideal time to empower students.

Adding to his statement, Pawan Singh said, “The ongoing COP-27 meeting at Sharm El Sheikh has already demonstrated the collective will among governments to tackle climate change through concerted, collaborative, and impactful action".

With this step, the PFS Chair will support excellent leadership in academia, research, and development in the fields of green finance, climate economics, and renewable energy financing.

In the presence of Pawan Singh, the agreement was signed by PV Madhusudhan Rao, the dean of alumni relations at IIT Delhi, and VS Bisht, the executive director of PFS on the campus ground of the institute.

According to the PFS mandate, the Chair Professor would be chosen among the esteemed IIT Delhi Faculty for their successful research in the fields of green energy, climate finance, etc., Madhusudhan Rao added. Representatives from the Donor - PFS will be involved in the selection process.

A Standing Selection Committee will convene soon to discuss the recruitment of Chair Professors at the Institute. The director of IIT Delhi, renowned academics with experience in green economics, renewable energy, and climate finance, and a representative from PFS will all be on the committee.

A management committee, led by the director of IIT Delhi along with two faculty members and two PFS representatives, will periodically assess how the chair is operating and how money is being spent.
