IIT Guwahati PhD Admission 2022 Open; Deadline Extended till October 25

New Delhi: IIT Guwahati has extended the last date for admission to its PhD programme for the December 2022 session. Aspiring candidates can submit the online application form through the official portal, @www.iitg.ac.in, by October 25, 2022.

IIT Guwahati offers full-time PhD programmes in various disciplines for regular, sponsored, part-time, and self-financed types through its Departments/Schools/Centres. Candidates seeking admission to the PhD programme can now submit their applications till October 25, 2022. 

The Joint Degree PhD Programme with IIT (BHU) is first of its kind among IITs. The students admitted to JDP programme will work under the joint supervision of faculty members from both IIT Guwahati and IIT (BHU) on the specified research proposals.

IIT Guwahati PhD Admission 2022: Dates

Admissions is being conducted for a total number of 358 PhD seats available for the December 2022 session. The special Seats for Ph.D Programme under CSIR/UGC JRF Scheme are 45.

IIT Guwahati PhD Admission 2022: Highlights 

Currently, the Institute provides monthly assistantship of INR 31,000 for the first two years and INR 35,000 for the next three years to the regular full-time PhD students.

IIT Guwahati PhD Admission 2022: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates seeking admissions into the PhD programme will have to meet the requisite eligibility criteria. 

• Candidates holding a Bachelor’s degree (BE/BTech/ BDes or equivalent) as qualifying degree must have valid and qualifying GATE score (CEED score in case of Department of Design)
• Candidates with MSc degree as qualifying degree must have a valid and qualifying GATE score or valid CSIR-NET(JRF)/ INSPIRE/ NBHM-PhD qualification, etc.

• Candidates holding MA in Humanities and Social Sciences subjects or equivalent must have valid UGC-NET qualification.
• Candidates having Bachelor’s (BTech/BDes) degree or Masters’ (MA/MSc) degree from an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) with minimum CPI of 8.0 in a 10-point scale are exempted from having a valid score in GATE/ CEED/ NET/ INSPIRE. 

IIT Guwahati PhD Admission 2022: Selection Process

• With the right to consider a limited number of candidates for the selection process, the institute will shortlist candidates based on the performance in GATE/NET/CEED, grades/marks in the qualifying degree examination and/or other educational qualifications starting from Class 10.
• The shortlisting and selection will be done specialization wise by the respective department/school/centre. 
• The selection process involves the performance of candidates in the written test and/or interview conducted in various stages in a particular mode as decided by the respective department/school/centre.
• The results of shortlisting and selection shall be announced on the application portal.

IIT Guwahati PhD Admission 2022: How to Apply?

Step 1: Visit the official application portal of IIT Guwahati @www.iitg.ac.in

Step 2: Register yourself after filling the required details, such as Mobile number, Email Id etc.

Step 3: Now, login with your registration credentials and fill all details in the Application form.

Step 4: Pay the application fee and submit the Application form. 

Step 5: Applicants must also take a print out of the form for all future needs.

IIT Guwahati PhD Admission 2022: Financial Assistantship 

The students pursuing PhD programme receive Financial Assistantship/ Scholarship from IIT Guwahati or Fellowship from CSIR/UGC or any other recognized funding agency.

The Financial Assistantship/ Scholarship from the Institute or the Fellowship from External funding agency is granted to them according to the governing rules and subject to satisfactory academic progress and satisfactory performance in assigned teaching assistant duty.

In order to avail the assistantship/ scholarship from the Institute or the fellowship from the respective external funding agency, the candidates must have the following requirements unless they are exempted.
