IIT Guwahati Records a 21% Increase in Pre-Placement Offers

New Delhi: The number of offers for the academic year 2022–2023 increased by more than 21% at the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati. In contrast to the 179 offers made over the entire 2021–22 period, the Institute has already received a total of 218 pre-placement offers (PPOs) this year.

According to the schedule presented by IIT Guwahati, PPOs will keep coming in until the start of Phase I of Campus Placements, which is set for December 1st, 2022.

Prof. T.G. Sitharam, the director of IIT Guwahati, congratulated the students on their accomplishments and stated, "The huge increase in PPOs this year makes me glad. The PPOs created this year demonstrate how well the students' diligence paid off. IIT Guwahati extends an invitation to further businesses to come and take part in the hiring of our nation's finest talent."

Strong internship programmes and Pre-Placement Talks held for the students by the Centre for Career Development of IIT Guwahati are significant contributors to this performance in PPOs. PPOs are continuously rising as a result of the students' achievement in these sessions and the great mentoring provided by the mentors.

Dr. Abhishek Kumar, Head, Centre for Career Development, IIT Guwahati, explained the causes of the rise in PPOs this year, stating that "major firms have started exhibiting more interest in recruiting people through PPO method and this has shown increasing trend for the previous couple of years. To assist students in their preparation and to help them learn more about the disciplines, we prepared webinars. Additionally, we worked with technical clubs to assist students in finding the appropriate study and course material for particular profiles, which led to an increase in PPOs this year.

Particularly for technical roles, IIT Guwahati has seen an increase in hiring trends, with more businesses offering PPOs through internships. Because of this, the Institute this year obtained the highest Pre-Placement Offer of Rs. 1.20 Crore, up from Rs. 56 Lakh from the year before.

International businesses took part and offered PPOs to IIT Guwahati students, including Accenture, Adobe, Amazon, Axtria, Axxela, Bajaj Auto Ltd, Barclays, BNY Mellon, Cisco, Citrix R&D, DeShaw, DevRev, Flipkart, Fractal Analytics, GE Health Care, Goldman Sachs, Google, IBM, J.P. Morgan, and Jaguar Land Rover India Limited. Along with this, PPOs have been created for the first time by businesses like Providence, DevRev, Winzo Games, John Deere, and Salesforce.
