IIT Jodhpur Launches Centre Of Excellence for Renewable Energy; Check Details Here


New Delhi: IIT Jodhpur has collaborated with the Rajasthan Solar Association to launch the Centre of Excellence for Renewable Energy. The centre of excellence for renewable energy is a part of the technology park of IIT Jodhpur. 

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between the IIT Jodhpur and Rajasthan solar association, which aims to support and provide assistance to research and development work for renewable energy.

According to the institute, the centre of excellence for renewable energy will offer specific courses and programs, which will be designed to upskill the available workforce resources. 

With the help of this collaboration, IIT Jodhpur Technology Park will become an important manufacturing hub, providing consistent industry exposure to the students, professionals, and other stakeholders. 

Advanced electronics, Remote monitoring, Trackers and inverters, Automatic cleaning systems, Solar, thermal and wind-solar, Interventions in solar panel technologies, Research on polysilicon and entire value-chain, and AI and deep learning are some of the focus areas of the research in the IIT Jodhpur and Rajasthan Solar Association. 

Some of the renowned dignitaries present at the launch of the centre was Professor Santanu Chaudhury, Director, IIT Jodhpur, Prof Sampat Raj Vadera, Deputy Director, Sunil Bansal, President, Rajasthan Solar Association, Anil Kumar Saboo, Chairman and MD, Elektrolites and President, Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers’ Association and others. 

During the inauguration of the centre of excellence, Mr Kumar said that the solar industry is the lifeline of Rajasthan, and is currently the 33 GW power generation pipeline which the association has and it will be set-up in 2-3 years. 

He said that the association aims to accelerate solar industries in Rajasthan so that a vast number of entrepreneurs and MSMEs can come forward and set-up manufacturing units of Rajasthan in the IIT Jodhpur technology Park, specifically the electronics components that are imported right at the moment. 

Further, the centre of excellence for renewable energy will play a significant role in providing skilling/ up-skilling opportunities. Rajasthan Solar Association has already signed an MoU with the German Government Agency which is a trade economy worldwide, he said. 

He concluded by saying that with the help of the agency's expertise, the association will improve the skills of master classes students to make them productive immediately and other industrial people of India in order to connect academia and industry leaders effectively. 

The Centre of Excellence for Renewable Energy, IIT Jodhpur, aims to promote awareness on the commercialization potential of renewable energy, generate an ecosystem of the shared research facility, and educate and provide career support to budding scientists in this field. 

Recently, IIT Jodhpur invited online applications for the PG Diploma in Data Engineering and Cloud Computing. The program is India’s first ever online PG Diploma program with academic credits and the next batch for the 12-month program will commence from February 19, 2022.
