IIT Kanpur & IIT Kharagpur Launches Free Online Courses on Data Science, ML


New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur and IIT Kharagpur have launched free online courses on data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. These courses will be offered to students through National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) platform.

As per IIT Kanpur, the newly launched free online courses are Data Science with R Software 1: Probability and Statistical Inference and data science with R Software 2: Sampling Theory and Linear Regression Analysis. Candidates who wish to apply for these courses can register online on the NPTEL platform. 

Following the schedule released, the classes IIT Kanpur and IIT Kharagpur courses will commence in the month of January 23 and will be held till April 14, 2023. Interested candidates with a background in mathematics up to Class 12 may enrol in the IIT Kanpur course, the officials informed. 

In addition to this, IIT Kharagpur is also providing a free, 12-week-long course in artificial intelligence and machine learning. The classes for this course will start on January 3, 2022 and will end on April 14. The last date to register for the admission process is January 23, 2022 for all candidates.

Senior undergraduate and graduate students studying computer science engineering, electrical engineering, electronics and communication engineering, artificial intelligence, or mathematics should be able to benefit from the course. Both courses are open for admission on NPTEL platform at nptel.ac.in.

In other news, the IIT Kanpur has earlier collaborated with Microsoft to introduce the "Azure Society of Excellence". The initiative was taken by the institute's Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC), a technology startup incubator.

Informing about the collaboration, Himani Agrawal from Microsoft India said, "We are happy to cooperate with SIIC, IITK, which will further enhance our respective startup acceleration initiatives to provide an environment with the proper support and structures and enable innovators to scale faster".
