IIT Kanpur Oganises Mechatronics, Microfabrication Workshop 'MechMicroFab-2022'; Check Details Here

New Delhi: The "mechatronics and microfabrication (MechMicroFab-2022) workshop," organised by the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT-K), began on December 5 and will last until December 15, 2022. There will be a total of 40 students competing.

The Department of Science and Technology-Science and Engineering Research Board (DST-SERB) will provide funding for an 11-day workshop under the "Accelerate Vigyan, Mission-ABHYAAS" programme. The workshop was organised by the mechanical engineering department at IIT Kanpur with the goal of educating researchers on how to adapt to new scientific discoveries and cutting-edge technological advancements in a fast shifting global manufacturing environment.

MechMicroFab-2022 provides a platform for training with fundamental and sophisticated control systems, mechatronics, statistical tools, contemporary manufacturing, and precision micro and nanoscale fabrication technologies in order to support the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical System (NM-ICPS).

The trained researchers will be in line with the government of India's visions for Skill India and Atmanirbhar Bharat. Janakarajan Ramkumar and Sarvesh Kumar Mishra from the mechanical engineering department of IIT Kanpur will oversee the workshop. The 11-day programme will prioritise transferring knowledge to several subjects that are currently understudied, according to a press release from IIT-K.

Lectures on diverse research topics will be given by speakers from various institutions. "The participants will receive hands-on training on high-end equipment, planning and carrying out experiments, data collection and interpretation, and basic etiquette to maintain exorbitant precision machining and additive manufacturing systems," said Sarvesh Kumar Mishra of the mechanical engineering department at IIT Kanpur. These systems have applications in a variety of industries, including the biomedical, defence, aerospace, and automotive sectors.
