IIT Kanpur Organises Event to Celebrate Constitution Day on November 26


New Delhi: On November 26, 2022, the campus of the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) observed Constitution Day. The event's primary guest was IITK director Abhay Karandikar, while the honoree was S Ganesh, deputy director of the organisation.

Manish Paliwal, an advocate for the Supreme Court of New Delhi, and Rohan Gupta, an advocate for the Allahabad High Court, attended the event at IIT Kanpur as distinguished guests. The programme started off by congratulating the dignitaries in attendance. The Preamble of the Indian Constitution was read to commemorate the event. The Preamble was recited under the direction of Karandikar, and S. Ganesh then recited it in English.

All of the participants, including the academics, officers, staff, and students, echoed the Preamble's main ideas in unison. read a press announcement from IIT-K. Manish Paliwal discussed the importance of the Preamble and the Constitution in his speech and compared how the Constitution operates and what it means to today's technologically advanced society.

Rohan Gupta discussed his views on the value of data privacy and responded to audience inquiries. He provided insights on the right to privacy with pertinent examples in relation to data privacy in the modern world and spoke about the concepts of nation and reservation system with particular reference to the EWS category.

In her closing remarks, Prakalpa Sharma, assistant registrar (legal) of IIT Kanpur, solicited feedback from the audience, shared her thoughts on the review petition pertaining to the EWS category of reservation, and clarified the legal framework with reference to the Government of India Act 1935. Along with the general idea that India is the "Mother of Democracy," Sharma also discussed the constitutional advancements in terms of democracy and court rulings. The legal cell team of IIT-K organised the Constitution Day event.
