IIT Kanpur to Host Fifth Edition of National Students' Research Convention

New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur is preparing to organise the fifth edition of its National Students’ Research Convention from March 3 to March 5, 2023. The three-day event will be held on the theme of ‘MedTech and Healthcare: The Welfare of Humanity’.

As per IIT Kanpur, the National Students’ Research Convention 2023 (NSRC ’23) is a flagship hosted by the Academics and Career Council at IIT Kanpur every year. The event aims to bring together the brightest minds of academia and industry to showcase their innovative ideas.

Informing about the event, the official website reads, "The event provides opportunities for students, especially those who showcase their research and innovative work, to gain insight about their field of interest through talks and interactions with industry leaders and faculty".

For this year, Dr D Nageshwara Reddy, Chairman & Chief of Gastroenterology, Asian Institute of Gastroenterology and Prof. K. Vijay Raghavan, Former Principal Scientific Adviser, Government of India, Professor, National Centre for Biological Sciences, TIFR will join the event.

In addition to this, prominent speakers like Dr Debojyoti Chakraborty, Principal Scientist, CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology and Dr Anup Singh, Associate Professor, Center for Biomedical Engineering, IIT Delhi among other experts will speak on this occasion.

The convocation will include various workshops including ‘Design Thinking: An Agile Tool for Medical Device Prototyping’, which will be organised by MedTech Laboratories of IIT Kanpur. It will offer training on manufacturing engineering, medical devices and rapid manufacturing.

Talking about NSRC ’23, Prof. Abhay Karandikar, Director of IIT Kanpur, said, “The pandemic has emphasized not only the need to have a healthcare system in place but the important role that technology can play in making it more efficient".

"There are exciting innovations taking place in this field. This is the reason why medtech is the focus of NSRC ’23 this year. We hope that NSRC’23 will excite our young students, he further added. Candidates can submit their abstracts for the convocation at nsrc.anciitk.in.
