As pre IIT Kanpur, startups can participate in numerous rounds of screening, various-level brainstorming sessions, and one-on-one mentoring at the national pitching competition. Finalists will have an opportunity to work with a mentor panel to refine their company proposals and develop their ideas.

An active ecosystem for fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and intellectual property already exists at IIT Kanpur. The Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC) is one of the nation's first incubators and was founded at IIT Kanpur in 2000 when India's entrepreneurial environment was still in its infancy.

With its technological business incubator, IIT Kanpur has so far helped more than 100 firms. The institute is also the location of C3iHub, a project that seeks to address all aspects of cyber security and cyber-physical systems.

C3i Hub has been a top innovation hub for everything, from evaluating security vulnerabilities and creating tools to address them at different levels of system architecture to spawning start-ups creating these solutions.

During the UpStart competition, five or more shortlisted firms will participate in one-on-one mentoring and brainstorming sessions with mentors for four weeks. To create an appropriate legal, operational and structural framework, startups will have the opportunity to debate their concepts and business strategies.

For the startups, this one-on-one engagement with knowledgeable Entrepreneur-cum-Mentors from the nation promises the opportunity to expand their network. The shortlisted firms will be invited to E-Summit'22 at IIT Kanpur for the finals, which will begin with One-Minute Elevator Pitches, after the mentoring sessions.

Startups who have been shortlisted from this session will proceed to the Final Pitching round, where they will have the opportunity to adjust their pitches in light of the feedback they have received.

The selected startups will then take part in a 10-minute pitch, followed by questions and answers, to present their updated business plans to the UpStart panel of judges, who will subsequently render a decision on the final standings.

Startups that are incorporated at least, if not registered on or after January 01, 2019, and are not VC-funded are eligible to register for UpStart'22. Investor Panel comprises venture firms which are Sequoia Capital, Inc, Capital Kalaari, Chiratae Enterprises, Blume Enterprises, Capital Ankur and Indian Angel Network.

Additionally, it includes Indian Angel Network, 3one4 Capital, Orios Venture Partners, Anthill Ventures, Hyderabad Angels, Dexter Capital Advisors, Rebright Partners, IvyCamp Ventures and SucSEED Innovation Fund.

Three cities will host the UpStart Nationals: Delhi on December 10, 2022, and Bangalore and Hyderabad on December 4 2022, respectively. Depending on the city, the Investor Panel will change. The competition's registration deadline is November 30, 2022.

Numerous benefits, including but not limited to on-the-spot funding, cash awards, incubation at SIIC IIT Kanpur, one-on-one industry mentorship, and networking opportunities at ESummit'22, the premier event of the Entrepreneurship Cell IIT Kanpur, are promised to the winners.
