IIT Kharagpur Offers Free Online Course on Blockchain, Register till January 30, 2023

New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur has launched a free online course on Blockchain Technology for all interested students. Those who wish to apply for admission can submit their online applications on the official portal of NPTEL Swayam at onlinecourses.nptel.ac.in.

As per IIT Kharagpur, applications are being accepted for a free 12-week online course on blockchain technology. The fundamental design principles of blockchain technology and its applicability across several industries will be covered in the course. The classes will commence from January 23 through April 14, 2023.

The online course on Blockchain Technology will be taught by Professor Sandip Chakraborty, an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Kharagpur along with Shamik Sural, a full-time Professor in the same division.

The institute is also giving students enrolled in the course three credit points. Students might benefit from this. Undergraduates, postgraduates, and professionals in the business with some familiarity with computer networks, operating systems, cryptography, and network security may enrol in the course.

Informing about the course, the official website reads, "Against this backdrop, this subject will cover the basic design principles of Blockchain technology and its applications over different sectors".

"Additionally, the course also provides tutorials on setting up blockchain applications using one of the well-adopted permissionless blockchain platforms - Ethereum, and one permission blockchain platform - Hyperledger" it further added.

Although there are no registration fees for this course, participants who desire an electronic certificate bearing the logos of IIT Kharagpur and the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) must register and pay a cost of INR 1,000 to take the proctored exam. The exam will take place on April 29, 2023.
