Indian Army Collaborates with University of Kashmir To Offer Distance Education Courses For Soldiers; Check Details Here


The Indian Army has collaborated with University of Kashmir by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to offer distance education courses for soldiers posted in the valley.

The Vice-chancellor of the University of Kashmir, Professor Talat Ahmed and General Officer Commanding of Chinar Corps Lt Gen D P Pandey signed the MoU at Gandhi Hall, University of Kashmir. 

After establishing a long-term relationship for the provisions of distance education courses to the soldiers serving in Kashmir, it was a historic day for the university of Kashmir, Srinagar and Chinar Corps, the spokesman said. 

University of Kashmir Courses 2021 

As anticipated in the agreement, the soldiers of the Indian Army posted in Kashmir will be eligible to seek admission to various courses that are offered by the Directorate of distance education, University of Kashmir. 

The spokesman told ET that the type of courses available to the army personnels will range from six months certificate courses to one-year diploma courses and two years post-graduate courses. 

Currently, a total of 18 courses are available for enrollment by the Army personnel which will be increased in due course of time, he said.

Post the formal signing of the agreement, Professor Ahmed addressed the gathering, elucidated on core values of the university and mentioned that the essential signs of long-term MoU will be beneficial for the soldiers posted in Kashmir. 

While addressing the spectators, Lt Gen Pandey praised the milestone achieved in the education field, as it will empower and upskill the soldiers of the Chinar Corps to perform their duties effectively in a challenging environment.

Further, University of Kashmir, with its rich cultural heritage and academia, will offer a great opportunity for the army personnels and civil defense employees of Chinar Corps to pursue higher educational qualifications, subject matter expertise, and domain specializations, Pandey concluded.
