Integrated BTech After Class 10 Set to Provide Smooth Transition to Engineering: Read How?

The course initially helps students to learn about the basics of Classes 11 and 12 and grooms them with mathematical and engineering skills.

A 6-year Engineering course pattern has been introduced by various private engineering colleges after Xth Standard. The main objective of the program is to prepare students for advanced technical education which will help them to groom their skills regarding mathematical and engineering fields.

The integrated BTech program will focus to help engineering students directly get into the system rather than spending their money and precious time for preparation of competitive exams." Students enrolled in this program are initially taught about the science subjects, equivalent to classes 11 & 12 along with the exposure to tools and machines which help them to prepare as per the industry requirements," said Prasad D Khandekar, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, MIT World Peace University, Pune.

Stating regarding the same, Khandekar said that the qualifying rate in JEE Main has been very low, similarly, the rate of qualification for the Online entrance exam organized by MIT World Peace University is also less. "Out of the 7000 applicants, only 45 could pass the exam last year. The candidates who could not secure a seat into premium colleges look for other institutes" he added. Khandekar also believes that the Integrated BTech program after Class X is a remunerative option for engineering aspirants.

Director of the Integrated BTech program at Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management and Engineering of NMIMS, Mumbai, Seema Shah said," Getting into engineering after class X ensures seamless integration of students in the field. It also helps them to secure a seat and enjoy their engineering journey, away from any rat race of appearing various entrance tests," she added.

The Integrated BTech program at NMIMS has a total of 360 seats and the program is offered in Computer Engineering, Data Science, Information Technology, and Mechanical Engineering. Admissions to the program are offered on merit basis and Computer Engineering is the most famous branch, Shah said.

For admissions at MIT World Peace University to the 6-year integrated program are based on the online entrance score. "Earlier admissions were based on the basis of merit in class 10th. But due to the scrapped board exams this year, the university has decided to conduct an online test for admissions to the program, said Khandekar. MIT World Peace University offers Integrated BTech in Civil, Computer, Electronics, Telecommunication, and Mechanical Engineering.
