Jadavpur University commences Online Classes for Science and Arts Students


Jadavpur University on Monday has started taking virtual classes for Science and Arts Courses students for the previous semester which was suspended in the month of March due to lockdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jadavpur University has uploaded downloadable soft copies of notes and video lectures at their official website to help students follow the remaining classes.

Students are required to log in to the respective classes through the online portal to get access to the online study materials.

Audio and Video clips can be easily downloaded and can be shared via bluetooth connectivity to help the students who don't have access to the internet or a smart device.

The online study materials can be easily accessed and shared via email or whatsapp. Students can also approach the respective faculty members for the same.

The varsity has also confirmed that the new semester which will be commencing from September will also follow the same procedure till the university opens. 

Jadavpur University VC, Prof. Suranjan Das has said that students will be required to attend classes through online mode only as there will be no alternative possible in these extraordinary times. 

He has assured that the varsity is ensuring that there is no digital divide between the students, as the university authorities and the student’s union has conducted separate surveys to ascertain the number of students who don’t have smart phone or internet services.

He added that the varsity has requested alumni, chambers of commerce and industries, teachers and even other individuals to raise corpus funds to provide smartphones and data packs to help such students.

In response to the appeal, many people have already contributed and the varsity authorities are taking all the required steps to provide required help to the needy students as soon as possible, he said.

The Varsity official has also confirmed that the previous semester classes for the engineering students will commence soon.
