Jadavpur University Inks MoU with IBSD, Imphal for Research and Academic Exchange


New Delhi: Jadavpur University and the Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Imphal inked an MoU to establish a beneficial relationship based on academic and scientific cooperation in the form of collaborative research projects and other academic exchanges.


The agreement between Jadavpur University and IBSD was also made to address the challenges of the NorthEast in terms of technology development and societal needs. A meeting was held in the TEQIP building, where dignitaries discussed Himalayan bioresources and exploration on Tuesday. 

Department of Biotechnology (DBT) Govt. of India has launched a special programme for the exploration and utilisation of bioresources in the Himalayan region, and a mission mode programme called "Himalayan Bioresource Mission". The department has sanctioned two mega research projects worth Rs. 5.50 crores under the Himalayan Bioresources Mission.

These projects are launched to carry out research on documentation and validation of traditional healthcare knowledge of the Indian Himalayan region using a translational approach, as well as the development of indigenous measurement systems for assessing the quality of black rice and ginger varieties from northeast India.

This meeting was followed by the advisory committee of the collaborative program between Jadavpur University and IBSD.

Recently, RGNUL, Punjab and DHSGV, MP have signed an MoU to enhance academic and research programmes in both the universities. This synergistic association will work to build research projects for funding by internal, national, and international agencies, as well as design outreach efforts for both the institute's mutually agreed purposes.
