Jadavpur University Teachers Urge VC to Fix Exam Mode

New Delhi: As per the latest update, the teachers of Jadavpur University have requested Vice-Chancellor Suranjan Das to decide on a fixed mode of examination for university exams.

In a letter, the teacher's association of Jadavpur University has urged the authorities and vice-chancellor to decide on a uniform exam pattern and exam mode to ensure that sanctity of university exams is maintained.

“We expect that the university’s examination board will make a decision so that the sanctity of our university’s examinations is maintained. We have already mentioned that we will not conduct any online examination henceforth,” the letter reads.

While talking about the letter, Parthapartim Roy, General Secretary of the Jadavpur University Teachers’ Association (Juta), stated the university is now working with a non-uniform exam pattern across facilities.

With this letter, the teacher's association of Jadavpur University demands a fixed exam pattern and mode of examination among all faculties for all JU Undergraduate, Postgraduate Courses for last year students.

Adding to the statement, he wrote during the confinement of pro-vice-chancellor Samantak Das by the students on Monday, “Fetsu (Faculty of Engineering Technology Students’ Union) wants the classes of the final year in online mode".

"Here we want to mention that on 8th February, Fetsu demanded classes for all years strictly be held in offline mode. Obviously, the next demand will be conduction of the examination in online mode (in the final year)”.

After reviewing the request made by JU Faculty Members, the university vice-chancellor Samantak Das has decided to hold a meeting with JU Examination Board on Monday, March 07, 2022, to discuss the matter in detail.

During the meeting, the university will discuss various issues mentioned by Jadavpur University Teachers’ Association (Juta) on exam mode and will come up with a solution for the same.

Earlier, Jadavpur University has permitted the faculty council in engineering and technology to offer online classes to B.Tech students last year as many of them are unable to take on-campus classes due to Covid-19 restrictions.
