Jindal School of Journalism and Communication launches New Film and Media degree with Scholarships


New Delhi: Jindal School of Journalism and communication, OP Jindal Global University is offering admission to students for its new course B.A. (Hons) Film and New Media Programme.

As per Professor Tom Goldstein, former Dean of the Columbia School of Journalism and the Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, is the Founding Dean of the Jindal School of Journalism and Communication , "Now, more than ever, it is crucial for young, talented minds to be exposed to the kind of broad-based academic subjects that the Jindal School of Journalism and Communication has worked so far to offer.”

The Founding Vice-Chancellor of OP Jindal Global University, Prof (Dr) C Raj Kumar said, "JSJC students over the years have reported that they have had a unique experience of studying at an exciting school with an innovative and interdisciplinary curriculum that offers a wide range of international opportunities. The programme stresses on the basics; reading and writing and is rooted in the best traditions of liberal arts education. Our students are placed in legacy institutions across broadcast and print in India and at the same time in digital and new media platforms. Since 2017, our students have interned with the BBC South Asia, NDTV, TV18, The Indian Express, Hindustan Times, Times of India (digital), Newslaundry, Newsminute, The Tribune and other media and production houses."

About B.A. (Hons) Film and New Media Programme:

Art history, cinematography, direction, screenwriting, film appreciation, video editing, sound design, animation, and gaming are all covered in these creative programmes. Documentary and narrative nonfiction are emphasized. The cinema programme, like the journalism and media studies programme, will honor the liberal arts heritage of effective teaching and critical design practice, and it is possibly the only one of its type in the country.

Scholarship for B.A. (Hons) Film and New Media Programme

The Jindal School of Journalism and Communication (JSJC) has also granted 98 scholarships to journalism students pursuing a B.A. (Hons) Journalism and Media Studies course since its start in 2017. 

Students with a combined household income below a certain limit and qualifying board examination marks above 70% were awarded scholarships on a merit-cum-means basis. Other reasons responsible for scholarship distribution is students' participation in debates, sports, cultural activities, societies’ events etc. 

Single student cannot get more than one scholarship. There could be any change in the criteria of allotting scholarship as per the University.
