JIPMER Issues Guidelines for Pursuing MPH, Post Basic B.Sc and M.Sc Nursing Programs

As per the guidelines of JIPMER, only 11 candidates can take study leave in a year. To be eligible for applying study leaves, the candidate must be above 50 years and have served in the institute for at least 5 years. The college should be recognised by NCI.

Additionally, the management will release a circular to regulate applications based on seniority, every year on May 1. Any students who intend to apply for higher studies should submit the appropriate application form together with a request to the Director in response to the circular indicating their desire to pursue higher studies and the branch of specialisation.

Applications must be completed by May 31 every year. Only after receiving the requisite approval from the administration's responsible authority the applicant will be able to apply for the specialised course through the correct medium or write the exam, as the case may be. The staff members who wish to apply should at first obtain permission from the administration, otherwise, they will be unable to attend the course.

Selection Criteria

  • If any entrance exam is conducted for a particular course, the student should appear for the same and qualify to be eligible for admission and then only be considered for study leave.
  • Only those students approved by competent authority can avail study leave as per the central government employees' existing rules. The leave can be taken only once in their service.
  • Students will not be granted their own leave for study purposes for both short-term and long term courses.

JIPMER has also stated that all students who are approved and selected for the specialised course must sign a bond declaring that after finishing higher education, they would serve the university for a minimum of 5 years.

If a student who has taken advantage of the study leave departs the institute before the bond period expires, an appropriate penalty as per the executed bond would be imposed. In all cases involving sponsorship or admission to higher education, the director's decision will be final.
