JIPMER Releases Recall Instructions for MBBS Students: Read Details Here


October 22, 2020Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) released the recall instructions for its final year MBBS Part II students who are residing outside Puducherry. 

During the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER)  virtual meeting held with MBBS Part II final year students on October 10, 2020, the authority announced the starting of the clinical posting of eligible students from November 2, 2020. 

In accordance with the clinical posting, the students of JIPMER Puducherry and JIPMER Karaikal residing outside the Puducherry state are requested to report at their university before October 26, 2020. 

Referring to COVID-19 guidelines, JIPMER Notice reads:

“In spite of our best efforts, if a student acquires COVID-19 infection, he/she will be treated in JIPMER according to the JIPMER treatment protocol. However, JIPMER will not be responsible or liable for any prosecution in any such cases".

JIPMER: Recall Instructions to Follow Before Travelling

Students who are arriving from outer town for the clinical posting of JIPMER must follow the following travel guidelines and instructions provided by the authority:

  • Students need to provide the authority with their parent’s contact details such as phone number, name, and email address.
  • The travel plan should be sent to the assigned faculty of JIPMER i.e, at jipmerstudentshelpline@gmail.com or SMS/WhatsApp at 9787244859.
  • The travel plan of the candidate should include their traveling mode, departure city, date and time of arrival, and any COVID-19 related symptoms (if found).
  • Students are strictly advised to carry their essential items with them such as 3 facemask, Face shields, Supplies for daily use, sanitizer, and Food carriers. 
  • Candidates must carry their identity cards of JIPMER for entry at the university. Without a valid JIPMER ID card, candidates will not be permitted to enter the university.

JIPMER Recall Procedures to Follow on Arrival at University

JIPMER authority has advised the candidates to obey all covid-19 norms and precautions to ensure a safe environment for everyone. Candidates who will arrive from outer states need to follow the following procedures:

  • The quarantine policy will be followed by the candidate. Students will have to stay in quarantine for 7 days. 
  • Female candidates of JIPMER Puducherry and Karaikal university will complete their quarantine period in Blackwell House I of the university. 
  • Male candidates of JIPMER Puducherry will stay at respective hostels rooms in Osler house and Karaikal university will complete their quarantine period in Lister Annexe. 
  • Strict covid-19 guidelines are to be followed during the quarantine period. 
  • If COVID-19 test results come out positive for candidates, they will be placed in isolation with monitoring. The students will be further treated by the COVID-19 clinical team. 
  • The health status of the students will be communicated with their guardians. Students will not be permitted to join the positing until recovery. 
  • In the case of COVID-19 symptoms, students are advised to report the concerned person immediately. 
  • Thermal scanning will be done at the entry and exit of the university to record Covid-19 symptoms. If necessary, samples will be taken for Covid-19 testing.
  • Students are strictly advised to follow social distancing and wear masks all the time inside the college campus.

Notice issued for parents of JIPMER students 

Parents and guardians of students are also advised to instruct their children to follow the precautions and norms of COVID-19 provided by the university. 

If students are found to be coronavirus positive, they will be further treated as per the JIPMER treatment protocol. 

Instructions issued by JIPMER aim to ensure the safety of all candidates inside the university campus. The guidelines of JIPMER are issued by the Government of India and the Union Territory of Puducherry.
