JMI Delhi PhD Admission 2022-23: Application Process to Start from April 1


New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia University is all set to begin the PhD Admission process for the PhD course from April 1, 2022, for the academic year 2022-23. 

Candidates interested in applying for the PhD course from JMI Delhi can check their eligibility criteria and apply online from April 1 to 30, 2022.

The Central university shared a notification notifying that all the eligible candidates can apply for admission to PhD programme between April 1 and 30 by visiting the university portal @www.jmi.ac.in. 

It has also been notified that the varsity will shortly release the schedule for PhD admission on its website. 

JMI Delhi PhD Admission 2022: Eligibility Criteria 

The PhD admissions at JMI is done based on candidates’ performance in a written test conducted by the university, followed by an interview round and evaluation of research proposal. 

Candidates must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks each in both Section A and B to qualify the test and appear for further rounds. 

Candidates must have pursued master's degree from a recognised university/ institute in relevant discipline with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks to be eligible for PhD admissions. 

The following category of candidates shall be exempted from appearing in the entrance test for PhD admission:

  • Candidates who have qualified UGC NET/ CSIR NET/ SLET/ GATE or have successfully completed MPhil from a recognised university/ institute
  • The teacher fellowship holders provided that the competent employing authority issues a NOC to the candidate to join the PhD programme and an undertaking that the candidate will be granted leave for the duration of the required coursework 

JMI Delhi PhD Admission 2022: How to Apply? 

Interested candidates can go through the steps below to apply online for the PhD courses offered at JMI. 

Step 1: Visit the official JMI website @jmi.ac.in. 

Step 2: On the homepage, click on the PhD registration (once the link is released). 

Step 3: After registering, use the login credentials to login and fill the application form with necessary details. 

Step 4: Pay the application fee and check the application form. 

Step 5: Download the application form for future reference.

In other news, the University is yet to decide whether or not to implement the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), for admissions to undergraduate courses

The Academic council followed by the executive council of JMI will take a decision regarding the implementation of CUCET, for the academic year 2022-23. The varsity has constituted a committee to decide on CUCET. 

Being a minority institution, JMI has 30 percent reservations for Muslim students, 10 percent reservations for Muslim women students, 10 percent reservations for Muslims belonging to other backward category (OBC). Moreover, 5 percent seats are reserved for the students who have passed out from Jamia schools.
