JNTUH to award grace marks to B.Tech and B.Pharm students for Provisional Degree Certificate; Check Details Here

JNTUH has recently given the approval of grace marks for BTech/BPharm students for the issue of PC.

Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad approves of eligible grace marks to obtain Provisional Degree Certificate. The first instance of grace marks was raised in the academic year 2016-17, where students were falling short of a few marks to pass one or two subjects.

Previously, the university offered 0.15% of the total aggregate marks of all the subjects of all the semesters as grace marks. Now, R16 Regulation states that university can add grace marks on two situations only:

  1. If the students pass in these one or two failed subjects
  2. If students are eligible to receive the degree.

The regulation also allows the university to display only letter grade/grade points secured by the students which will hide the actual marks of the students and is unaware of the difference of marks to apply for grace marks.

The regulation has been implemented only for B.Tech and B.Pharm courses as a one-time exemption in the wake of Covid-19 situation.

In the context of credit-based detention, students need to secure 50% of total credits to be eligible for subsequent semesters and 60% of total credits for subsequent years. Instead of rounding off the total marks, the university will now calculate from the in-bound marks for each subject.

The benefit of grace marks will only be valid if the student submits their application cum undertaking endorsed by the Principal of the college for grace marks, which will be then submitted to the Executive Council.
