Kashmir University Affiliated Colleges to Conduct Skill Course Exams for all UG Students


New Delhi: Kashmir University affiliated colleges are to conduct examinations of skill courses at the UG level from now on. The decision has been taken as per the recommendations of a committee constituted by the Kashmir University Academic Council. 


As per the official notification by the Joint Registrar Academics of Kashmir University, the examination for skill enhancement courses will be conducted by the respective colleges from now on. 

The university has already devised a proper method for colleges to conduct the examination of the skill courses. As per this plan, each Skill Enhancement course will be of four credits, divided between two lecture-based theory components and two activity-based practical component credit systems. Each credit will carry 15 marks. 

“Each component shall be examined and evaluated separately and the awards uploaded on the university portal by the concerned examiners immediately after the completion of examination and evaluation process”, as the KU notification reads.

The varsity has also notified that whenever required, there will be necessary changes and that will be incorporated in the software by the university IT unit. The necessary User ID and Password will be provided to the colleges to operate the process. 

The notification further states that once the evacuation of the skill courses will be done by affiliated colleges, it will be forwarded to the Controller of Examination for further course of action. The colleges will also submit the panel of Board of Examiners for each skill course. The panel will include the external and internal experts in their respective fields and it will require the approval of the concerned authority.

“The students will deposit Rs 200 out of the prescribed examination fee of Rs 250 for the course in the concerned college, to meet the expenses on account of conduct, evaluation and stationery requirements”, the notification also states. 

KU has instructed that the remaining INR 50 is to be deposited along with the examination fee of other subjects in the University Chest. 

In case there is a change in the overall examination fee structure, the fee structure for the skill courses will also be reevaluated. 

The university has further instructed that for introduction of a new NSQF/ Non-NSQF based Skill Enhancement Courses, the colleges are to submit affiliation from the University (DCDC), NoC from the Administrative Department, Draft Syllabus for the course in 2 Credit Theory and 2 Credit Practical components and the Panel of Experts of Examiners.
