Kashmir University Commences 7 Day Workshop on Research Methodology on December 15; Check Details Here


Kashmir University has organized a 7-day workshop on Research Methodology in Social Science starting on Tuesday, December 15.

The seven-day workshop was organized jointly by Kashmir University’s Media Education and Research Center (MERC) and the Department of Social Work (DoSW) and Dean Research Professor Shakeel A Romshoo chaired the inaugural function of the workshop. 

Professor Romshoo highlighted the importance of methodology in research and stated that research scholars knowing which method to adopt and where to adopt while pursuing their research goals is an important thing.

He also expressed that the workshop would help the researchers raise the standard and benchmark of their research and lead to better research outcomes.

According to Professor Romshoo, to address the wide range of problems faced in society, research in social sciences is important. He said that even in hard science research, the social science component has to be there. Its function is to translate the outcome of the research done in various fields at societal levels.

The University of Kashmir has taken numerous new initiatives to promote the social sciences in a huge way which include the constitution of some important committees in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 guidelines. 

Professor Showket A Shah, the dean of Behavioral Science at Kashmir University has highlighted the issues and challenges faced in the research in social sciences in his keynote address. 

Professor Shah stated, “It’s important to adopt methodology approaches in accordance with the research problems chosen by the scholars to ensure that the outcomes are fruitful and the objectives of the research are fairly achieved.”

Head of the MERC at Kashmir University, Dr. Aliya Ahmad said that each day new ideas and new perspectives keep on emerging which forces the academics to view the ideas through a new lens.

With new techniques, mixed methods, and applications appearing both from academia and practitioners, the research domain is expanding faster. 

Dr. Ahmad also added that to advance communication and generate conservation on coverage, beats assigned, and the industry, the MERC intends to open doors and windows to a broader spectrum of knowledge.

Dr. Aadil Bashir, the coordinator of DoSW at Kashmir University stated that the aim of the workshop is to teach young scholars about various aspects of research and methodology and make them understand how it could help them during their research duration.

Dr. Javaid Bashir from the DoSW has delivered the vote of thanks in the inauguration ceremony of the workshop and introduced the theme of the workshop.

Dr. Idrees Kanth from Ambedkar University, Delhi spoke at the inauguration event about the ‘Approaches to Social Science Research’ and Dr. Syeda Afshana from MERC at Kashmir University spoke about the ‘Reimaging Research in COVID 19 World.’

The senior faculty member of MERC and DoSW, Director of EMRC and Media Advisor Dr. Salima Jan, and HOD of Library and Information Science, Dr. Shabir Ahmad attended the inauguration function of the seven-day workshop at Kashmir University.
