Referring to the number of applications received this year by Kerala University, Sabu Joseph added, “Most candidates seeking admission to Ph.D. courses are college teachers"

"The university clears their application on the basis of their academic merit and English speaking skills. The other mandatory clearances are done by the ICCR, which in fact sponsors the studies of a large number of foreign students in Indian universities" he further added.

In 2020, over 105 student applications were cleared for the university admission process, and only 25 joined due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Owing to the pandemic, many students requested the university to join an online course, however, the request was further denied.

Earlier, Kerala University received a large number of applications for various programs from Iran. Keeping in mind the Covid-19 pandemic, the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) has set up a web portal through which students can easily apply for the university of their choice through online means.
