The Kerala Technological University (KTU) has decided to cancel the B-tech third semester examination on Saturday after it found mass cheating by students using mobile phones during the exam, as per the reports.
According to the Kerala Technological University (KTU) authorities, the mathematics examination was cancelled for the third-semester students, which was held on Thursday, after receiving complaints that students shared answers through the messaging platform WhatsApp.
During the third semester examination of the paper, ‘Linear algebra and complex analysis’, the malpractice were reported from five different colleges located in various districts across the state.
The University syndicate examination sub-committee took the decision after considering a preliminary report filed by both University Pro-Vice-Chancellor S Ayub and exam controller K R Kiran.

Moreover, a release issued by the KTU stated that some students carried mobile phones inside the examination hall exploiting the COVID-19 health protocol issued by the government.
Regarding the mass cheating, Ayub stated, “This is a serious matter, and strict action will be taken.”
The University authorities, while looking into the matter, have also seized mobile phones from some candidates and plan to file a police complaint against those students.
