KU & Cluster University Postpones Exams; KU Terminates MCQ Paper Pattern at UG Level; Check Details Here


New Delhi: KU, Srinagar, and the Cluster University of Srinagar have officially postponed their examinations amidst the surge in the number of Covid-19 cases. Also, Kashmir University terminated its MCQ Paper Scheme at the undergraduate level and reverted to the old descriptive system of evaluation. 

In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic across the country, Kashmir University deferred all the examinations w.e.f January 18, 2022, and notified that the revised exam dates for the university exam will be issued in due course of time. 

In the KU notification, the students have been advised to keep track of the official website of KU for the latest updates. 

As there's a surge in the number of Covid-19 cases, the J & K government released fresh guidelines retaining the already issued restrictions, including a night curfew across the union territory. 

After reviewing the current covid-19 situation in the territory, the State Executive Committee (SEC) took this decision. Meanwhile, other universities have postponed their examinations and shut down the institutions till further notice.

Cluster University Postpones Examinations

Considering the increase in the number of Covid-19 cases, the Cluster University of Srinagar also decided to postpone the exams of all the universities which were scheduled to commence on January 17, 2022.

According to the notification shared by Cluster University, all the examinations scheduled to start from January 17, 2022, were deferred until further notice, owing to the rise in the number of Covid-19 cases. 

The varsity notified that the revised exam schedule for cluster university courses will be released separately and that the students are requested to keep track on the official Cluster University website @www.cusrinagar.edu.in.

Termination of MCQ Paper Pattern at UG Level 

The Controller of Exams, KU, released a notification stating the decision, approved by Vice-Chancellor, was taken pursuant to recommendations made by the Academic Council at its meeting held on November 23, 2021, regarding the change of pattern of question papers for all even (2nd, 4th and 6th) semester-end exams of various UG programmes under the choice-based credit system. 

As per the notifications which have been sent to principals of all KU-affiliated/constituent degree colleges for compliance, the Kashmir University will now adopt a descriptive pattern of question papers for all even end-semester exams on the same pattern as is in vogue for the odd semesters (1st, 3rd and 5th) of all ensuing exams to be conducted with effect from April 2022, onwards.

However, the notification also states that the semester-end examinations that may commence before the cut-off date and extend even after April 4, 2022, shall continue to be conducted according to the existing pattern.

Further, the new scheme (descriptive pattern) shall be adopted for all the even semester-end examinations for Backlog Candidates of 2016 batches and onwards with effect from April 4, 2022. 

It also notified that a separate question paper shall be served in case of change of title of any course/paper and the same shall be intimated separately well before the commencement of the examination.
