KU and MGNCRE Jointly Organize Awareness Programme on MBA Rural Management, Check Details Here


Kashmir University (KU) and The Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (MGNCRE) jointly organized an online workshop on December 20, 2020, to increase awareness on rural management courses in Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh. 

The day-long workshop was organized in collaboration with the KU School of Business Studies. Director Rural Management Prof Chethan Chittalkar, Chairman of MGNCRE Dr. Prasanna Kumar, Prof Arti Guar from Chaudhary Devi Lal University, Ms Abilasha Bahugana from Leh and Dean School of Business Studies at KU Prof S Mufeed Ahmad were the chief resource persons.

Prof Mufeed talked a great deal about the status of management education in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and especially in Kashmir University.

Professor Mufeed said, “There is enormous scope for introducing MBA (Rural Management) in J&K to make students more employable. It can be introduced as a full-fledged course or as an area of specialization in existing MBA programmes which can contribute towards raising awareness in rural places about the key management areas like marketing,”

Prof Mufeed concluded by urging MGNCRE to conduct case studies of rural management issues faced by the UTs of Ladakh and J&K.

Dr. Prasanna and Prof Chetan also spoke in the workshop regarding the importance of rural management programmes in colleges and universities. They said that these programmes need to be created so that students will be able to address the needs of the people in rural areas.

They assured their full support to the students in study materials, academics, and workshops and said that MGNCRE was focusing on turning students into job givers instead of job seekers. 

They concluded by saying that they would also aid in the introduction of rural management programmes alongside faculty development and capacity building programmes at KU, its affiliated institutes and NIT Srinagar.

Coordinator of MGNREGA in J&K, Mr. Kumar Abhishek gave a detailed presentation on the curriculum of MBA in rural management. 

He thanked Professor Mufeed Ahmad, and faculty members of KU, Islamia College Srinagar Vice-Chancellor Prof Talat Ahmad, Director NIT Srinagar Prof Rakesh Sehgal and NIT Srinagar for extending their support to the workshop.
