Kurukshetra University Sets Up International Centre for Indo-Pacific Studies


New Delhi: Kurukshetra University has established an International Center for Indo-Pacific Studies on the campus to contribute to global peace and prosperity, as per Vice-Chancellor Som Nath Sachdeva. 

Informing about this new initiative, the Vice-Chancellor of Kurukshetra University stated that the center has been established at varsity based on the proposal submitted by Professor V A Attro. The center will aim to improve the trade relationship of the country.

Referring to the initiative, KU Vice-Chancellor Som Nath Sachdeva said, "The establishment of this think-tank is important for providing necessary inputs to the government for improving trade relations and geostrategic diplomacy".

“The center aims at promoting academic and research standing of the university at a global level by enhancing capacity-building and generating decent employment opportunities for the students of the university”, he said.

During the event, an alumnus of Kurukshetra University and Former Chair of Indian Ocean Studies (CIOS), Attri at Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) was appointed as the director of the International Center for Indo-Pacific Studies. 

Referring to the highlights of this initiative, Vice-Chancellor stated that the center will also work on sustainable development of trade and investment, maritime connectivity, maritime security, climate change, cyber security, environmental protection, and clean energy.

“The university’s International Center for Indo- Pacific Studies will work towards evolving the constitution of the Indo-Pacific as a new paradigm of peace, and security”, he added. It will also promote interdisciplinary research for Kurukshetra University Faculty.

In addition to this, Som Nath Sachdeva has announced the implementation of National Education Policy 2022 from August for the academic session 2022-32. With this, students applying for Kurukshetra University Courses will have multiple entry and exit options. 

To introduce students to the new education policy, the university has also conducted a five-day workshop on the implementation of NEP 2020. The education policy will be implemented in the UG courses offered by all Kurukshetra University-affiliated colleges
