Kurukshetra University to Award Rajib Goyal Prize to Four Young Scientists: Read More Here


Rajib Goyal Prize 2021: Kurukshetra University has recently announced the names of four young scientists for the Rajib Goyal Prize. The four students have been selected for the award for their honor for outstanding work in their respective fields.

With this announcement, the Kurukshetra University’s Vice-Chancellor has added the name of four scientists, Rajneesh Mishra of IIT Indore (applied sciences), and KM Sureshan from IISER Thiruvananthapuram (chemical sciences) for the prize. 

Additionally, the young scientist, Rajeev Varshney of ICRISAT Hyderabad (life sciences), and Suman Chakraborty from IIT Kharagpur (physical sciences) have been nominated for the Rajib Goyal Prize 2021. 

The names of students for the Rajib Goyal Prize 2021 were announced by Professor Som Nath Sachdeva, Kurukshetra University Vice-Chancellor, who is also the Chairman of the Rajib Goyal Prize Organising Committee. 

While referring to the achievements made by young scientists, Prof SP Singh stated that the student of IIT Indore, Rajneesh Mishra has contributed to tuning the optoelectronic behavior of materials for various biomedical applications and has opened new avenues for the same. 

IISER Thiruvananthapuram student, KM Sureshan has been nominated for the grand prize for his work in areas of organic and material chemistry. The contribution adds various projects done for wider industrial applications.

Similarly, Rajeev Varshney, a student of ICRISAT Hyderabad has been presented for the Rajib Goyal Prize 2021 for his work in genome sequencing. The contribution further leads to the development of a drought-tolerant variety of PUSA chickpea in India. 

Suman Chakraborty from IIT Kharagpur has worked in the field of microfluidics, nanofluidics, and hydrophobic surfaces, which further lead to the use of the same in many medical devices. For her participation, she has been further conferred Rajib Goyal Prize 2021. 

While introducing the Rajib Goyal Prize, Prof Sanjiv Arora, Convener of the Organising Committee said, "Goyal Prize was instituted in 1992 by Ram S Goyal, an NRI settled in the US, and so far over 100 eminent scientists have been honored by the prizes".
