Lucknow University Forms 6 Member Committee to Finalise NEP Structure for PG Course


New Delhi: Lucknow University has organised a 6 member committee to finalise the framework of the one-year postgraduate programme to be provided once a student has completed the four-year undergraduate degree. This decision is made following the implementation of NEP 2020 at the undergraduate level.

The committee comprises various eminent faculty of Lucknow University: Dean of student welfare Prof Poonam Tandon, Dean of Academics Prof Rakesh Chandra, Dean of Research Prof Rajeev Pandey, Dean of Arts Prem Lata Suman, Prof Piyush Bhargava and Prof Rachna Majju.

Durgesh Srivastava, Lucknow University spokesperson said, “We have already implemented NEP at the undergraduate level in the academic session 2020-21. Lucknow University has formed a committee of six members to finalise the structure of one year PG course to be made in accordance with NEP”.

The one-year PG programme of Lucknow University will focus on students' overall development, with a strong emphasis on research. The structure will be presented to the board of studies, faculty board, academic council, and ultimately executive council for final approval, according to Srivastava.

Undergraduate and postgraduate courses designed in compliance with the NEP will be offered at Lucknow University and its associated colleges.

In Lucknow University's four-year UG programme, a student who leaves after three years will receive a UG degree, whereas a student who completes the entire course would receive a UG with research.

Students who have finished an undergraduate degree with research can complete a master's degree in just one year, with those who complete the first year receiving a certificate and those who complete the second year receiving an undergraduate diploma.
