Lucknow University’s Karmyogi Scheme to Offer Part-time On-Campus Jobs, Read Details Here


Lucknow University introduces Karmyogi Yojana scheme to offer part-time employment to students and ensure they earn while studying. As a part of the scheme, the varsity encourages the students to enrol in part-time jobs available on the campus, to pay their expenditure partially.

Alok Kumar Rai, Vice-chancellor of Lucknow University on Tuesday stated that according to the Karmyogi Yojana scheme, the student will be paid INR 150 per hour for doing the assigned jobs. Each student would be permitted to work for a maximum of two hours a day, subject to a ceiling of 50 days in an academic session. The authorities will also ensure that part-time work does interfere with the learning.

Further, Alok Kumar Rai, informed that the maximum stipend paid to a student in any case under the Karmyogi Scheme would be INR15,000. 

Rai stated that as of now the scheme is for the students of Lucknow University who are studying in its campus. “As of now, the ‘Karmayogi Scheme’ is only for the campus students and I want affiliated colleges should start such initiative at their own level,” he added.

The scheme offered by varsity will ensure several the following objectives as mentioned below;

  • Make use of students’ potential as a valuable human resource.
  • Involve students participation in activities of the Lucknow University.
  • Help students gain work experience before they secure their real jobs.
  • Teach students the dignity of labour.
  • Ensure students’ youthful energies to move in a positive direction.

Recently, the Lucknow University has also increased the number of seats for admission into LLB five-year programmes from 120 to 180, and in BCom, programmes seats went up from 120 to 180 while in BTech Computer Science seats have increased from 90 to 180.

Meanwhile, the varsity will also launch a new faculty of yoga and alternative medicine this year. Two departments would be set up separately, including the department of yoga and department of naturopathy. In both of these departments UG, PG, and diploma courses will be offered to interested candidates.
