Madras University Collabs with Keio University to Study Disaster Risk Reduction


New Delhi: Madras University has joined hands with Keio University of Japan to initiate research collaboration in coastal resilience and disaster risk reduction. 

The event of launching the new study will be held tomorrow on the Madras University Chepauk campus, the India-Japan Laboratory at Keio University and Rika Institute, India, will further discuss challenges in the fields of community-based disaster management in the post-pandemic period.

Proposal of Madras University & Keio University 

An agreement for a period of five years (2022-2027), will be signed by institutions, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the India-Japan friendship. 

According to the Madras University release, the pact consists of the transfer of technology and professional skills from Japan to India. 

End users such as the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Tamil Nadu State Disaster Management Authority, and Greater Chennai Corporation would also be invited to make use of the research projects. 

Rajib Shaw, director, India-Japan Laboratory, Taga Masayuki, Consul-General of Japan, S. Gowri, Vice-Chancellor, N. Mathivanan, in-charge Registrar, and R.R. Krishnamurthy, head of the Department of Geology, University of Madras and team leader of the collaboration will take part in the event. 

Madras University Admission 2022 

Recently, the University of Madras has issued a circular for the affiliated colleges informing the students to pay up ‘continuation of provisional affiliation fee’ for the period 2016-17 till 2020-21 for each course they conduct. 

The notice also mentioned that each college will have to pay the fees on or before March 15.

The Registrar's notice states that all the colleges must pay INR 25,000 per course, per section for every programme, including certificate, diploma and undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) professional courses, they offer. Colleges have been instructed to pay their fee (from the fourth year of UG and third year of PG) online.
