Magadh University Prepares to Conduct Pending Exams amid COVID-19

Magadh University (MU) is preparing to hold all the pending exams amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Recently, an instruction has been issued stating that universities have to frame regulations to conduct the exams. As per Rajendra Prasad, Vice-Chancellor, Magadh University, the university will hold a short meeting to convene regulations.

The VC added, “Online exams can be conducted for courses with less number of students whereas programmes where the number of students is large, an OMR-based test can be taken to ensure early publication of results.”

The Nodal officer, Sanjay Kumar said, “The board’s meet will be held in a couple of days. Hence, we are making arrangements for conducting pending exams.”

Sushil Kumar, president of the PG Teachers’ Association, shared that teachers should be left out of election duty as “conducting exams is equally important.

Moreover, teachers above 60 years of age should not be assigned election-related duty as it can jeopardize their lives.”

Earlier, Magadh University had issued a notification that stated postgraduate and undergraduate Part-III were to be held from July 6 and July 16 respectively. However, the exam was cancelled due to pandemic.

However as elections are nearing, university teachers may be appointed for election duty and colleges can be acquired as strongrooms where central force is equipped. This may be a sufficient hurdle amid the exams.

Meanwhile, holding exams amid the pandemic will be equally challenging for MU, as protecting students, invigilators and evaluators are one of the concerns. Added to this, regularising academic sessions is another aspect.  The university has to constantly prioritise sanitisation and social distancing measures.
