Mahatma Gandhi University Colleges Set for Partial Reopening from Jan 4; Check Details Here


Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU), and it’s affiliated colleges are gearing up for partial reopening of colleges from January 4, 2021, Monday. 

The authorities of MGU have directed college managements to arrange the academic sessions for reopening colleges, under the guidelines released by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Only 50% of students are required to attend classes on a day as per the infrastructural facilities available. Colleges can decide on shifts to follow all the safety protocol.

There should be a minimum of five hours of offline teaching if there are two shifts daily. Classes will be conducted between 8.30 a.m., and 5 p.m. Managements can select either of the timings such as 8.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m; 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; 9.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m., and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., if they are not choosing the shift system.

Teachers should be present on the campus during the timings opted by each college. They must only be present during the shift timings. During laboratory sessions, all protocols should be followed with care. It is up to each department to decide on the syllabus to teach offline and online and submit its plan to the college council for further approval.

In addition, the varsity needs to ensure that students do not gather at one place or share food. Attendance will not be mandatory. Hostels and canteens can also function following the Health Department guidelines.

Managements need to submit the timetable for the sessions before the concerned authorities by January 7, 2021. Saturdays (except public holidays) would be working days until March to fill the gap in the sessions. College departments can make the time table for sessions on Saturday. 

Apart from this, a COVID-19 monitoring committee, including the principal, representatives of teachers, non-teaching staff, students, parents, and the health inspector should be constituted in each college.
