MAKAUT Partners with Cambridge Marketing College to E-Train Teachers

Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) has been working with Cambridge Marketing College, UK, to address the most crucial challenge facing the teaching community during the pandemic, i.e. online classes.

Starting August 8, 2020 MAKAUT will launch a five-week online course for teachers who have been overwhelmed by the sudden transition from teaching to the digital platform.

The program will include familiarization with online platforms, contemporary online tools and software platforms to help teachers prepare and revise e-study materials, assignments and peer discussions.

"Our first priority is to train 1,000 teachers in our own university. Since ours is engineering-based education, it is very important for teachers to adapt to the online format and to innovate with students, "said Vice-Chancellor Saikat Maitra.

MAKAUT wants to extend the program to all strata — from school to postgraduate level.

The certification will be jointly awarded by MAKAUT and the Cambridge Marketing College under University of Cambridge, United Kingdom.

Most of the first batch has already been selected, including lecturers and professors from undergraduate and graduate colleges.

There are many more batches to follow. Classes will take place during the weekends and the fee, including Rs 300 for registration, will be Rs 3,300.

Nandan Sengupta, Collegiate Ambassador of Cambridge Marketing College and mentor to this program, said, "The program involves mentors from academics, technology applications and management sectors whose cumulative experience will help participants."

"The aim of the course is to make teachers aware of emerging tools in e-learning," said Atanu Ghosh, mentor and visiting professor at \premier Indian institutes.

“Each batch will have 20 participants to ensure there is one-on-one interaction with the mentors,” said another mentor, Sumit Kanungo, a management professional-turned-academic.
