Maruti Suzuki India Joins Hands with TISS to Offer Course in Automotive Retail; Check Details Here


Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) has joined hands with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, (TISS) to offer a course in Automotive Retail specialization. 

On September 28, the Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) announced its partnership with the Mumbai -based Tata Institute of Social Sciences – School of Vocational Education (TISS-SVE) to train the Indian youngsters in automotive retail. 

The MSI company along with TISS-SVE will offer a personalised and customised three-year degree course in retail management with automotive retail specialization under this partnership. 

The automotive retail course will mainly focus on imparting industry relevant technical and soft skills to the Indian youth that will enhance them to become industry-ready in the automobile retail value chain. 

The three-year automotive retail course will consist of one-year classroom learning and training followed by two-year on-the-job training at the authorized Maruti Suzuki dealerships. 

TISS-SVE Courses 2021 

MSI Executive Vice President, Manoj Agrawal said in a statement that the primary challenge faced by the automobile industry is the availability of skilled professionals. However, with the partnership with TISS-SVE, MSI aims that the skill gap will be bridged. 

The compulsory 24-month on-the-job training will provide students an in-depth understanding and knowledge and prepare them to face real-life on-ground challenges, and make them industry-ready, he added.

The course curriculum designed by Maruti and TISS-SVE, is in line with the UGC regulations and guidelines, which covers the full-spectrum business processes of the automobile trade.

Besides providing hands-on experience at the authorized dealerships, the students will also be taught the Japanese work culture, soft skills, etc. Further, it can be noted that the sessions for the first-batch will commence from October 2021, for the current academic year 2021-22. 

TISS Vice-Chancellor, Shalini Bharat stated that the industry integrated course will provide both theoretical and practical knowledge to the students along with the regular industry interaction and 24-month on-the-job training. Additionally, the course will enhance the student's career in automobile sales in India. 

The tie-up of the MSI's with TISS-SVE is in continuation of its effort to offer skill-based training programmes to the Indian youngsters.

Earlier, MSI had initiated similar courses with several universities including Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) in Pune, Maharashtra, Shri Vishwakarma Skill University in Gurugram, Haryana, GLS University in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
