Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) held the online common entrance examination for admission to Ph.D. and M.Phil on December 19, 2020. Around 2,200 candidates appeared for the MKU common entrance exam.
Usually, the MKU common entrance exam is held at different exam centres. But due to the ongoing pandemic situation the exam was conducted online as an AI proctored test, which the candidates attempted from the comfort of their homes.

MKU Vice-Chancellor, Dr. M. Krishnan said in a statement, "Despite few technical issues, the exam was conducted successfully. Three candidates were also barred from writing the MKU common entrance exam after a warning was issued for indulging in malpractice."
During the MKU common entrance exam, the invigilator monitored a batch of 30 students to ensure that no malpractice was carried out.
During the exam, the video and audio of the candidates were recorded through a camera and microphone of their device.

The system of online exam used AI-Artificial Intelligence to detect and record the face emotions of the candidates, pupil movement or any of such activities.
Krishnan also informed that, since the MKU common entrance exam is conducted online, the institute is capable of detecting smallest changes in the candidate's surroundings.
For the AI-proctored exam, MKU had tie-up with a new private company.
