MLSU First University in Rajasthan with Max degrees deposited in Digi locker, Read Details Here

Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur, has become the first higher education institute in Rajasthan to have the highest number of awards and degrees deposited in the National Academic Depository (NAD), with over 2 lakh degrees on the digital platform.

Amarika Singh, VC of Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur, stated, “We have deposited all the degrees awarded so far by the university. Digilocker is a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Electronics & IT under the Digital India program. The program aims at digital empowerment of citizens by providing access to authentic digital documents in citizens’ digital document wallet.”

Furthermore, Kunjan Acharya, the university’s spokesperson informed, according to Rule 9A of the Information Technology Rules (Preservation and Retention of Information by intermediaries providing Digital Locker facilities), the issued documents in the DigiLocker system are deemed to be on a par with original physical documents.

Acharya added, “The digital upload project in MLSU took off three years ago. The team has successfully uploaded around 2 lakh graduate, postgraduate, Ph.D., and various diploma certificates awarded by the university so far. After the convocation ceremony this month, the degrees granted in the past one year will also be uploaded digitally.”

Apart from this, the HRD ministry established NAD in 2016 intending to offer a facility for safe storage and retrieval of academic certificates and to verify documents from the use of fake academic certificates. 

NAD is known as a 24X7 online storehouse of all academic awards, including certificates, diplomas, degrees, mark-sheets, etc. duly digitized and lodged by academic institutions/boards/eligibility assessment authorities. It ensures both easy access to and retrieval of an academic award and validates and secures its authenticity and safe storage.
