MNLU has now neutralized Maratha Quota for the Admissions on the instructions of the Supreme Court. All the reservations under Maratha Quota cannot be used for Admissions in Maharashtra National Law University.
The Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur has canceled the allotment of seats for the SEBC Category. The Socially and Economically Backward Class Category student can not claim reserved seats for MNLU Admissions.
This was proposed by the Apex Court in regard to the reservation of jobs and admission for the academic session 2020-2021. The same Decision was followed by the Supreme Court in the month of September for canceling the SEBC quota to a larger Bench.
The Supreme Court had notified that for the previous admissions to not get affected. The Universities and Colleges are to follow the rule for the upcoming admissions.
MNLU received a legal Notice by the Court after the University has released the First Provisional List under CLAT 2020.

The notice was filed by the Advocate Record Pooja Dhar and the NLU Nagpur to release that SEBC reservations were now nullified. The legal Notice was sent by the representatives of NGO Youth for Equality
The Notice clearly directed the University to follow the Supreme Court’s orders and not to cancel the reservations under SEBC category. The Maratha quota will not be applicable for the First Allotment and for the fresh admissions.
Upon receipt of the Notice, NLU Nagpur implemented the same and seats allotted under SEBC Category were transferred to the General Category in the Second Merit List.
MNLU Nagpur offers law courses through the Common Law Admission Test and also conducts the Counselling program for short-listed candidates. CLAT 2020 counselling session was closed on October 15, 2020.
