MUHS recommends state government to permit PMC to commence academic session of Proposed Civic Medical College from 2021-22; Check Details

Maharashtra University of Health Science (MUHS) has recommended the state government to permit the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to commence the academic session of 2021-22 in the Proposed Civil Medical College. 

MUHS grants affiliation to colleges and institutions that impart health science education across the state. 

MUHS Registrar, Kalidas Chavan said to the state medical education department that the MUHS has recommended the Maharashtra government to permit the admission of 100 students in the Proposed medical college of PMC for the upcoming 2021-22 academic year. 

To which MUHS has decided to consider the instructions given by authorities and the verification of the Consortium agreement which is between the PMC and the Medical Education Trust. 

However, the proposal for the medical college will be valid till the year 2026-27.

As per the registrar, the recommendation by MUHS wasn't done by any actual verification but it was done on the basis of documents produced by the institute.

He also said that if any legal issue arises in the future then the institute will be solely responsible for it. 

Further, the students will not be given admission without the resolution of state government, permission from the union government, and the first-time affiliation from MUHS, he said. 

Before commencing the new colleges, new courses, and increasing the admission seats for the next academic year, MUHS should have to consider the applications that were submitted in the October-end, according to the law. 

After scrutinizing the proposal, MUHS can submit the recommendation by December-end for the application that was submitted before October-end.

PMC-Medical Education Trust has already submitted its proposal on August 19 which will allow the 100 students to take admissions in the next academic year. 

PMC and the Medical Education Trust together are going to start the medical college and teaching hospital in the state. 

As per the civic official, the proposal will be sent to the Medical Council of India (MCI) for final permission, once the state government permits to start the medical college.
