Mumbai University Campus Service Fee 2021-22 Slashed for UG, PG Courses


Mumbai University Campus Service Fee 2021 has been slashed for UG, PG Courses in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, that has thrown severe impact upon all the spheres of society. Financial crisis has been noticed in every field. Education system was not spared from it.

Mumbai University has announced to reduce the charges for various campus services for the benefit of both UG and PG students for the 2021-2022 batch. Besides, the university has also taken the decision to give a 100% fee waiver for the students who have lost either one or both of their parents at the gulp of Corona.

Earlier many institutions agreed to reduce program expenses offered by them for the sake of students. Mumbai University is a new addition in this list.

Last Thursday, 52,040 candidates registered for Mumbai University Admission 2021. However, as per latest updates, tuition fee for aided colleges of INR 800 and for unaided programs of Rs 3,000 - 6,000 has been exempted from reduction. But, accessory charges are reduced with a large proportion.

Maharashtra State Higher and Technical Education Minister, Uday Samant gave direction to all universities through a circular to cut the fees as people were affected brutally by COVID. 'Colleges have been advised to take the fees in instalments', said T.A Shiwara, the chairman of Non -Government colleges.

The institute's fee reduction for COVID suffered candidates under different heads are listed below -

Except tuition fees all the charges are said to be reduced in large portions but MU going ahead one step has announced 100% reduction of Caution fee, library deposit, laboratory deposit, industrial visit, magazine fee and students welfare fund.

On the other hand, the institute has given the statement to reduce 50% charges for library, laboratory, gymkhana and extracurricular activities and 25% reduction for exam fee. The colleges which do not have extracurricular activity facilities, should not put any charge for this. It is similar for magazine cost also.

The proportionate fee component under different heads which include hostel fees, may charge separately for UG and PG courses if the pandemic situation becomes normal in future and students can attend the college physically. It is applicable for Arts, Science and Commerce streams of different colleges affiliated with MU as per circular clarification.

The institute has also made the decision of giving free of cost marksheets, convocation certificates and other documents to students who lost these during the flood in Mahad, Chiplun and other regions.
