Mumbai University Cut Off 2021 Increases by 13% Due to Rise in Class 12 Marks: Read Full Story


Mumbai University has officially commenced the first-year admissions with the release of MU first merit list from August 17. It must be noted that the popular colleges affiliated with Mumbai University have increased their cutoff scores for this year by up to 13%. 

Owing to the second wave of COVID-19, the CBSE along with ICSE and other state boards decided to scrap off the Class 12th board exams this year and released the Class 12th results instead of using a different and unprecedented methodology. However, students should note that the Mumbai University has increased their cutoff scores.

Now, according to the data shared by the Mumbai University colleges, the cutoff percentage for this year has increased exponentially. The main reason being a massive increase of Class 12 students in the 90% Club. In fact, almost 50% of the total students between 90%-95% this year, according to the CBSE and ICSE schools. 

A total of 46 students scored a perfect 100%, for the first in the history and this high percentage of students scoring over 90% has caused a sudden increase in the MU cutoff scores.

Cutoffs have been increased in Colleges like St Xavier's college, Narsee Monjee College, Mithibai College, and R A Poddar College. Beside, the commerce cutoff for Ruia College has been increased by 6.5% from 89.9% in 2020 to 96.4% in 2021. Moreover, the top scoring students are attracted to courses like BMS, BA Mass Media and Communication, B.Com in Accounting.
