NLSIU Admission 2021: 25% Seats to be Reserved for Karnataka Domicile Students; Details Here


NLSIU Admission 2021: National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru has recently issued an admission notification based on which about 25% seats will now be reserved for upcoming NLSIU Admission 2021. 

As per the reservation criteria, the National Law School of India University will now provide seat reservation to Karnataka students who have studied for 10 or more years in any Karnataka-recognized institute.

As per the admission notice, the reservation of 25 percent seats in NLSIU Admission 2021 will be applicable only for BA, LLB (Hons) and LLM programs with over 50 to 120 admission seat intake. 

Students who are now appearing for Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2021 are requested to fill out their applications in order to avail of reservation benefits during the admission process.

As per the official notice, "The reservation is a part of NLSIU Inclusion and Expansion Plan 2021-2024 adopted to increase the diversity of its students and facilitate greater access to marginalized and/or underprivileged sections of the society in a phased manner”.

Earlier, in 2021, the Karnataka High Court provided 25 percent horizontal reservation to state students in the NLSIU Admission 2020 process. The reservation was offered in accordance with the National Law School Of India (Amendment) Act, 2020. 

The National Law School Of India (Amendment) Act, 2020 was passed by the division bench of Justice B V Nagarathna and Justice Ravi V Hosmani for all Karnataka students in National Law School of India University, NLSIU. 

Referring to the reservation, the bench said, “NLSIU is a unique institution of national character and not a mere state university”. The NLSIU (Amendment) Act, 2020 was passed in March 2020 after receiving the final confirmation from the assent of the Governor in May 2020.
