NLSIU Organises International Conference on Consumer Protection on November 19


New Delhi: The International Conference on "New Facets on Consumer Protection Challenges and the Way Forward" will be held on November 19, 2022, and is being organised by the Chair for Consumer Law and Practice (CLAP), National Law School of India University, Bengaluru. The conference is being organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution, Government of India.

The Zoom-hosted conference at NLSIU will last for one day and feature an opening session, six parallel sessions, and a closing session.

Primary Conference Themes

The following topics will dominate the conference agenda:

  • protection of consumers when purchasing goods and services via social media sites; Protection of Customers Against False Reviews on E-Commerce Portals; Protection of Customers & Fall Back Liability charging customers service fees for goods and services received at hotels and restaurants; recognition of the consumer right to the right to repair; Comparing India's consumer protection laws to international best practises Conscious consumption Cross-border Consumer Dispute Resolution Consumer Protection and Hidden Patterns

Arti Gupta, a NLSIU alumna, receives the 2022 Audre Rapoport Prize

The Audre Rapoport Prize for Scholarship on Gender and Human Rights went to Arti Gupta, BA LLB 2022. The essay she wrote, "The Unhappy Marriage of 'Queerness' and 'Culture': The Present Implications of Fixating on the Past," won her the prize.

Every year, the Rapoport Center gives the winner of an interdisciplinary writing competition on global human rights and gender the Audre Rapoport Prize. This $1,250 award honours Audre Rapoport's contributions to the field of women's rights (1923–2016), notably her work on reproductive health issues.
